Throughout the Kingdoms, owls have created their own specific form of Slang. Below is a list of common terms used by the owls of the lands, and what they mean in our tounge.

Battle Claws - Powerful claws fashioned of metal that slip over the talons of owls to aid in a fight.
Bisshen - To speak; talk.
Blairn - Crazy/batty/bonkers; same as yoicks.
Bonk - Strong and powerful fires or coals.
Botkin - A special bag used for carrying ice weapons.
Branch - An act of first flight in which owlets leap from branch to branch, flapping their wings.
Breaklight - A meal that takes place just before the break of dawn, usually when owls prepare to roost.
Chaw - A small group of owls with special and or similar skills.
Chaw-Chop - To drop an owl from a chaw for a period of time.
Churr - To laugh.
Coal Claws - Battle claws with coals on the tips. (See Battle Claws)
Collier - A carrier of coals.
Creelies - The creeps; heebie-jeebies.
Croft - An infirmary bed in the great tree.
Dwenk - A process in which the moon wanes in the sky once a month, referred to as the 'time of dwenking' to most owls.
Fire Blink - When an owl is transfixed by the beauty of a raging fire and goes yeep. (See Yeep)
Flecks - Small bits of metal that disrupt an owl's ability to navigate properly, prized by St. Aggies and The Pure Ones.
Flint - To have value.
Flint Mop - the Ga'Hoolian form of punishment; roughly means to do something to pay back for the value that has been taken away.
Frink - A rude exclamation, as in 'this really frinks me off'.
Gazooling - The noisy conversation of young owls.
Give it a blow - Lighten up.
Gizzard - An owl's second stomach, which compacts bones, feathers, and fur into a pellet, which is then yarped; an invaluable emotional guide, where an owl's deepest feelings are felt. (See Yarp)
Glaumora - Owls equivilant to Heaven.
Glaux - 1. Owls higher being.
2. An expression of surprise; 'Great glaux!'
Gleek - To goof off or mess around. 'Gleeking about'
Glowworm - A particular kind of coal valued for its density of heat.
Gollymope - A depressed state.
Goodlight - Equivalent of 'good night' for owls.
Grog Tree - A tree where owls come to drink and socialize.
Hagsmire - Owl hell.
Hireclaw - A lone owl that can be recruited for battle for the price of a good set of battle claws.
Hoolian - 1. The language of the southern kingdoms.
2. Something of Hoolian descent.
Hukla-hukla - 'Young owls will be young owls'.
Moon blink - To expose for long periods to the full shine of the moon, forcing owl's minds to become confused and incapable of making simple decisions; to destroy an owl's will and individual personality, making him or her perfectly obedient.
Mooncalf - The worst insult a commander can give to a lower-ranking soldier, meaning both idiot and coward
Moon scald - A process similar to moon blinking, in which an owl is exposed to an enormous amount of light from the moon, which not only has the brainwashing effects of moon blinking, but can also wipe memories.
Mu - A soft metal that is devoid of all magnetic attributes.
New - For the moon to appear larger in the sky, opposite of said dwenking; referred to as the time of newing.
Nimsy Night - The festival held on the shortest night and longest day of the year.
Nooties - Flavorful nuts that grow on the Great Ga'Hoole Tree.
Racdrops - Exclamation short for raccoon droppings; one of the worst curse words an owl can say
Ryb - Teacher
Scroom - A spirit that has not made it's way to Glaumora or Hagsfiend, due to unfinished businesses on Earth. (See Glaumora and Hagsfiend)
Scroomsaw - Soul.
Shred - In colliering terms, to dart in and out of the edges of a fire.
Slipgizzle - Spy.
Sprink - An exclamation; the worst curse word an owl can say.
Turnfeather - Traitorous owl.
Turnscale - Traitorous snake.
Tween time - Dusk; the time between the last drop of sun and the first shadows in the evening.
Tweener - The evening meal; the first food owls consume after waking.
Twixt time - Dawn
Wet Pooper - A term used for birds that do not yarp pellets. (See Yarp)
Yarp - To cough up a pellet
Yeep - To freeze with fear, 'I almost went yeep!'; When a bird's wings lock due to shock or fear.
